Documents Secured with AuthX™
Become Self-Authenticating
When
creating or retrofitting a document, the AuthX™ system scans
the entire document. The picture, text and other information contained
in the document is analyzed and encoded. Biometric info, such as
fingerprint or iris scan templates can be added. These elements
are then securely encrypted and combined into an authentication
code, which is encapsulated in a machine-readable barcode.
Once
the barcode is attached to the document, the authentication info
becomes part of the document itself.
Self-Authentication
of the document can take place at any time, with or without network
or database availability. When presented for authentication, an
inexpensive, commercially available scanner again scans the document.
The required data is electronically read and collected. This time
however, the photo and text are compared to the information embedded
in the authentication code. If the photo has been changed, if the
text has been altered, if the document has been tampered with in
any way, or if the individual does not match the embedded biometric
data, the AuthX software will detect it and the document will be
rejected.
The
value of enabling Self-Authentication of new and existing documents
becomes clear when you look at the
Economics of AuthX.
